To understand BarkGoods, one must start with the birth of its parent company, The Bark, in 1997. Like many good ideas, The Bark was born out of necessity—giving voice to the evolving phenomena we called dog culture. What began as a newsletter, quickly grew into a glossy, prestigious magazine known for insightful journalism and sterling literary and art offerings. Over the years, The Bark has chronicled the importance of dogs in today’s culture—exploring the bond that makes dogs and humans the world’s oldest friendship. The magazine and website has resonated with hundreds of thousands of dog lovers who seek a deeper connection with their canine companions.
Within our pages, we offer everything from health and wellness to behavior and training, while showcasing the fresh ideas impacting canine cognition and learning, nutrition, animal rescue and the changing role of dogs in society. We take dogs seriously, but we’re also devoted to the joy they bring into our lives … travel, treks, games and humor, are all regular features in The Bark. Our motto: “Dog is my co-pilot” sums it all up nicely.
A New Curated Shopping Experience for Dog Lovers
The concept for BarkGoods grew out of an idea that Bark founders Claudia Kawczynska and Cameron Woo, shared—connecting readers to the products we believe in. The stories of these products are interwoven into the everyday lives of our readers, and tied intrinsically to the care, training and activities we champion in our magazine. It makes sense for us to provide the tools, as well as the resources and ideas, to our readers to enable them to live better with their dogs. With the launch of BarkGoods in the Fall 2014, we bring the same passion and eye for quality to ecommerce that we’ve honed in nearly two decades of publishing the world’s premier dog magazine. We are tapping into our network of experts and community of dog lovers (meaning you), scouting out finely crafted and innovative products we think are essential to today’s canine lifestyle. We’ll cut through the marketplace clutter and curate the best designed, the most utilitarian and sustainable products available.
BarkGoods will be bringing dog people the very best the world has to offer them, not just products and gear—but resources, guidance and tips of the trade—everything that will make being a BarkGoods shopper a new, rewarding experience … for both you and your dog.
