Leather maker, Dennis Knight has been working with leather since1971 when he got an apprenticeship in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, making saddles and harnesses using traditional methods. In 2003, he opened River Ridge Leather in Ohio's historic Roscoe Village.

He employs leather that is vegetable tanned and uses a knife called a strap cutter to cut each piece by hand. With a beveller, he takes the corners off the edges, finishes them with a black-colored edge coat, and then burnishes them by compressing them.
